It seems that 2009 has been a very good year for the military, as far as interest goes. Everyone wants a job and jobs are hard to come by, so naturally people are looking to the military for relief. This in turn has allowed the US Armed Forces to tighten their restrictions and seek for more “qualified” applicants over others in recruiting efforts. Raising ASVAB test score standards across the board, no longer hiring GED holders, and doing away with physical waivers are just a few of the changes the US military branches have enforced to cut down the number of possible applicants they seem to be getting flooded with these days.
Being a recruiter myself, I feel sorry for the people who call me wanting to join these days only to tell them I cannot help because our standards have changed and they are no longer eligible. Even the same applicants who were eligible this time a year ago are no longer allowed to join because of new restrictions on standards. Below is an article that goes into further detail and clarifies a little more about the recent changes.

If this is the first time you’ve ever visited then pat yourself on the back. Because this website is brand-spanking NEW! My name is SSG Jakob Harper and I am a recruiter for the Army National Guard. I realized after recruiting for a couple of years that the military definitely is not for everybody. I have seen a lot of confused young men and women (and older men and women) out there who have come to me for answers and it’s amazing how little they knew about the military. I guess I assumed that everyone is supposed to have a built in knowledge about the military…lol sorry folks. So for that reason, I have decided to launch this website to help others learn about the military. What it’s like and how the process works of getting to join. It’s definitely not as easy as it used to be.
Also, when a new recruit joins the military they all seem to have this “deer in the headlights” look on their face like…”What do I do next????” I will hopefully be able to give you some answers on all of that and shine a little light on this mystery instead of leaving you wondering “WHAT HAVE I JUST GOT MYSELF IN TO!??!?
Also, I have even wrote an e-book that discusses all of this in A LOT of detail that I’ll be glad to send you for a smalll teeny weeeny fee. It’s definitely worth it’s weight in gold.
